OPTIMAD is pleased to announce that it will attend the European Conference on Numerical Mathematics and Advanced Applications (ENUMATH) conferences, which will be held at the Instituto Superior Técnico, of the Universidad de Lisboa.
The ENUMATH conferences are a forum for discussion of basic aspects and new trends in numerical mathematics and challenging scientific and industrial applications on the highest level of international expertise. They started in Paris in 1995.
During the session ‘𝘕𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘩𝘺𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘗𝘋𝘌’𝘴’, Sandro Malusà, Ph.D. student and one of the members of Corporate Research Dept. of OPTIMAD, will present ‘𝘈 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭-𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸’, a study realized with Alessando Alaia from OPTIMAD.
The work presents an all-Mach scheme for the model of Abgrall and Saurel, an Eulerian-Eulerian model describing compressible multiphase flow. It gives the possibility to simulate efficiently compressible multiphase flows in the limit of the incompressible regime. This is a tool particularly relevant to the chemical engineering industry to simulate the fluid dynamics in trickle bed reactors (TBRs) where both liquid and a gas phase flow at slow velocities and heterogeneous chemical reactions induce volume changes in both phases.
The event will take place from the 4th of September to the 8th of September 2023, in Lisbon, Portugal.
