OPTIMAD (Optimization Methods for Aerodynamic Design) develops software for aerodynamic analysis, design and optimization. The company has been founded in 2006 by a group of researchers in fluid mechanics and design optimisation, enjoying since then the status of being a Spin-Off of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino.
Technology transfer is the company’s every day business: industrial process innovation is envisaged by employing highly qualified personnel, 100% of the technical staff holds a PhD in aerospace engineering, fluid mechanics, applied mathematics or similar disciplines or is enrolled in a doctoral course of one of our academic partners.
Through adoption of the Open Innovation paradigm, the company seeks to create strong connections with outstanding research groups on one side and with innovation-driven companies on the other side, in order to create a network of world-class expertise capable to contribute to challenging issues of society.
OPTIMAD is registered in the public registry of businesses, Registro delle Imprese, as an Innovative SME. This specific section of this public registry is intended for high-tech companies.
The company is member of the Piedmont Aerospace District and of two Piemonte Region Innovative Clusters: the MESAP cluster and the Polo Innovazione ICT cluster.
OPTIMAD is also one of the research partners of Sportello Matematico, a project supporting businesses in technology and scientific transfer based on industrial mathematics.
